Honoring our Friend and Hero
This week we paid tribute to those who lost their lives on September 11th, we also did our best to honor the heroes who saved lives during that difficult time and those who continue to serve us every day. I find it fitting to also be celebrating Lieutenant Tim McCoy, our very own Streamwood Fireman. "Fireman Tim" has served the community for over 40 years and Glenbrook Elementary since 1993 as our Fire Safety Educator. On Friday, we surprised Fireman Tim with an assembly to congratulate him on his retirement as he began his last full day of work. The students and staff gathered together to share cards, candy, flowers, tears, and words of gratitude and several of his colleagues came to join us in our celebration. Chief Chris Clark presented Lieutenant McCoy with a plaque which will hand in the school's entryway to as an honor for the years of service he has given us. We will miss our dear friend and thank him immensely for his dedication and support to all of the residents and children of Streamwood. He truly is our hero!
Family Fun: BINGO/LOTERIA
Friday the 13th was a full moon, but we had well over 100 guests who decided to test their luck anyway and come out for our BINGO/LOTERIA event. We had lots of excited winners too! A big thank you to all who joined us and helped with the cleanup. A special thank you to Erin and Antonio Sorellino, John and Stephanie LeMaire, and Jose Portillo-Sanchez and Nicole Martinez for putting the event together.
