Learning Is So Much Fun!
As we wind down the school year, our students are sharing many projects with their classmates and others throughout the building. It's a great way to learn about many different things and the students choose the topics that interest them. Check out the photos below of some of the research our students have been working on.
Mrs. Dimitrakis' 5th grade Dual Language students worked very hard researching famous Americans. They each not only wrote about their famous American, but they prepared a power point and presentation materials to share with other students that visited their classroom. Even more special, the presentations were given in both English and Spanish, depending on the preferred language of the audience. All of the students have become bilingual and bi-literate and did a beautiful job with their research and their presentations!
Mrs. Jagielski's 6th Grade IGNITE classroom, in their quest to learn about different cultures, worked in groups to create their own cultures. The students first needed to understand what makes up a culture. Next they designed clothing, language, traditions, and religion among many other things that made up their culture. Below are some artifacts that they created to represent their culture.
Mrs. Dauksavages' class has been doing presentations based on research which began with famous speeches. The students chose a famous speech and researched the importance of the topic represented in the speech. This was a challenge for sure, but they certainly rose to the occasion. They learned about all kinds of "hot topics" throughout history.
With the nice weather last week, several classrooms took advantage of the weather and did some of their lessons outside. Mrs. Bury's class enjoyed a group conversation about cultures while basking in the sun.
Talk about having a fun challenge! Mrs. Chandler-Roth challenged her students to play board games with "no voices!" They had a great time using alternate means of communication. They were very difficult games too.
Mrs. Diaz-Blanco's class was pleased to complete their puzzle challenge in record time!
What a better way to end the week, then an ice cream treat given by one of our favorite volunteers, Mrs. Strege! Thanks Mrs. Strege, we appreciate you!!!
