Research sharing at the U-46 STEM Expo
We are so proud of our students for the hard work they put into their STEM projects this year. Mrs. Smith's class once again can boast that they had the highest representation from Glenbrook, but they weren't the only ones. Students from Ms. Reiser's, Mr. Whitmer's, Ms. Lucas's and Mrs. Jagielski's class also shared projects at the fair. A big thank you to Mrs. Vazquez and Mrs. Smith for joining our students since I was unable to attend this year. I really missed seeing our students and hearing about their research projects. I did hear that they did an awesome job! Caleb, a student in Mrs. Smith's class, was even mentioned in the Daily Herald! Newspaper Article (Caleb is in blue below.)
Scripps Spelling Bee
A huge Congratulations to Tejas Katira who finished in the top 4 in the Kane County Spelling Bee Championship. Tejas will now progress to the state meet which will be held at the regional office of Kane County on March 10. We are so proud of Tejas! Way to represent Glenbrook and School District U-46!
African American Advisory Council
Glenbrook parents, Mr. Adedamola and Ms. Angela Olumegbon and Mrs. Paulette Allen were key presenters at the monthly African American Advisory Council Meeting this month. The meeting was held at the district offices. In honor of African American History Month, both sets of parents shared information about their own backgrounds and cultures. Mr. Olumegbon, who is from Nigeria, shared some of the traditions and values of his culture and how he shares that culture with his family. Mrs. Allen shared how life in America differs from life in Jamaica. Both parents proudly represented two of the many different cultures that the families in our school represent. We hope that others will soon have the same opportunity to share highlights of their cultures. Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Olumegbon and Mrs. Allen! You made us proud!!!
