Principal For A Day
On Friday, December 7, we welcomed Kelly Behnke, District Executive for Three Fires Council of Boys Scouts of America, to Glenbrook as our Principal for a Day. The students especially enjoyed her visit as she shared her leadership journey as well as her personal life experiences. They asked incredibly deep questions, laughed at her funny stories and enjoyed a read aloud. We look forward to a future partnership with Ms. Behnke and the Boy Scouts.

Ms. Behnke began her day reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and the Hawk Pride Pledge with the help of Mrs. Vargas's class. She then shared several announcements that would help the students start their day off just right.
Several of our 5th and 6th grade "hawks" enjoyed breakfast with Ms. Behnke and shared what it means to show "Hawk Pride." They also talked about the things we do well here at Glenbrook and the things we are working on improving.
The 6th graders enjoyed a candid conversation with Ms. Behnke learning much about her personal and professional lives. They found out about her experiences with a family member who has Aspergers Syndrome and how that relationship has helped her to grow as an individual. They learned about her college and career pathway too.
Ms. Behnke showed the students that it's fun to be silly too as she read, The Book With No Pictures, by B.J. Novak. The students giggled at the nonsense words enjoying the story immensely.
A very special thanks to Ms. Kelly Behnke for spending a day with us. We had a wonderful time showing off our school and learning about scouting too. Many students showed great interest in being part of the boy scouts organization. If you are interested in having your son or daughter become a part of the boy scouts organization, go to Be A Scout or contact Mrs. DeRoo for further information.
