Parent Leadership
This past Saturday School District U-46 held their annual Hispanic Parent Leadership Academy (HPLA) and African American Parent Leadership Academy (AAPLA) graduation. These two groups work weekly for 2 years to learn how to be leaders, particularly within our school district. Congratulations to our very own Glenbrook parents, Jose Alcantara and Maria Martinez for completing their first year in the program. If any parents are interested in joining, please let me know and I'll connect you with the right people.
CEO Tony Sanders congratulates the group.
Jose is an active member of our PTA and next year will serve as the VP!
Maria is an active member of the PTA and co-chair of a variety of committees.
A Larkin High School Dance Troupe performed some inspirational dances.
Congratulations to all of the U-46 HPLA/AALA graduates!
Proof that we are still learning and having fun!
At this time of the year the students and staff have a difficult time staying focused, but we are not done yet and there is still learning to do. Here's proof that we are learning and having fun too!
Ms Scarpino's kindergartners joined Mrs. Berenson's class for a day in first grade. Mrs. Berenson's first graders became role models as they showed the kindergartners what to expect next school year.
Mrs. Gustafson came back to visit her first graders after a leave of absence. They missed her greatly and were very excited to see her. They celebrated with a pizza party that they won from CiCi's Pizzeria in Streamwood.
Some classes enjoyed extra recess and learning outdoors.
Many classrooms are finishing up on projects to present and share next week.
6th graders share their Legacy Projects that they will leave behind to make Glenbrook a better place.
Vintage Videos was part of a fun afternoon.
Some students organized their goals for middle school. It's only a few months away for our 6th graders!
