Congratulations to Glenbrook's
Future Problem Solving Bowl State Champions!!!
Each year our Glenbrook Future Problem Solving teams improve immensely with their skills and performances. Throughout the year the students practice for many hours to enter the competition. Year after year, most of our teams have qualified for the state competition due to their high scores. This year was no exception. Coach Ellen Smith brought 4 teams to the Future Problem Solving Bowl which was held in this weekend in Normal, Illinois. All 4 teams, including 7th graders that were former Glenbrook Students, did an outstanding job. Each 4 person team gave it their all and the results were incredible as you can see from the photo. Additionally, the 6th grade team also took 1st place for the oral competition. WAY TO GO TEAMS!!!!
This year's topic was, Cloud computing. Students needed to develop problems and solutions related to the security of cloud computing.
4th Grade Team
Bryan Sanchez, Samantha Havener, Jasmine Olumegbon, and Neda Bazys make up the 4th grade team. This was their first year in the competition and they came in 5th Place in the state competition! What an accomplishment. We are all so proud of these students and can't wait to see what they bring to the competition next year! Congratulations!!!
5th Grade Team
Carlos Perez, Brandon Cardozo, Aarav Patel, Sara Sulemanjee bring a little experience having enjoyed the competition last year. This year we are proud to say they came in 4th place at the state competition. Congratulations team for a great showing!
6th Grade Team
Sarayu Manne, Saranya Ganne, Gurshaan (Shanu) Singh and Arav Patel had an outstanding showing winning 2 awards. The first was for the oral competition where they came in 1st place! We are also proud to say that this year the team won 1st place overall becoming the new FBSB STATE CHAMPIONS!!!! This is the 3rd year that this team has qualified for state and they have clearly taken the feedback for earlier competitions to improve their skills. Congratulations team! They will now go to the International FPSB competition which thankfully will be held in Wisconsin this summer. I can't wait to see how they compete against students from countries across the globe!
7th Grade Team (Former Glenbrook Students, now Larson Middle School Students):
Danyl Sulemanjee, Arjun Sivasankaran, Kush Patel, and Mann Sheth have also competed in the competition for the past 3 years. Each year they have placed in one area or another. This year was no exception with them winning 1st place in the oral competition. This is very impressive since they competed agains 7th through 9th graders. (48 teams) Congratulations to them all and to Larson Middle School for having a state winner!!!
I want to give a special thank you to Mrs. Ellen Smith who has worked each week since early this school year with all 4 teams. She has inspired and pushed them to build skills far beyond what they normally would do in school. Thanks Mrs. Smith for caring enough to devote so much time for these students.
Congratulations to all of our teams! Way to represent Glenbrook and School District U-46!
