More Winners to Celebrate!

Each year the Elgin Teacher's Association honors students across the district at the 6th, 8th, and 12th grade levels. These students are chosen by their teachers for the "Those Who Excel" award (TWE).  The award honors students who have gone above and beyond in all areas; academics, behavior, and activism in the school community.  This year's 6th grade recipients were honored at an awards night on Monday evening.  Congratulations to Kaleigh Allender, Hannah Stewart. Edwin Guillen, and Ryan Lindsay!  Thanks to Mrs. Bury, Mrs. Jagielski, Mrs. Chandler and Mrs. Diaz-Blanco for helping to run the event and for supporting all students throughout the year.

Family Reading Night

Once again our 6th graders ran our biannual Family Reading Night.  The volunteer students planned a story time, complete with a reading and craft. Additionally, parents were invited to shop the Anderson Book Fair's buy one, get one event. Thanks to all of the book fair volunteers for your help all week. A special thanks to Jill Piwko who organized the entire event.

A Look Inside

This week I thought you'd enjoy a look inside the classrooms so that you can see all that your children are doing and learning.  It has been a busy 2 weeks and even though we are only 5 weeks out of the end of the school year, students continue to work hard. We still have lots to learn!

Family BINGO/LOTERIA Night

Even though it was a small crowd, we had a great time at Friday night's Family BINGO/LOTERIA  event.  Money and prizes were given out and pizza and popcorn eaten up.  Thanks to Dawn Heath and Erin Sorellino for organizing the event.
