Hawk Pride At Glenbrook
It's no secret that we at Glenbrook work hard to teach our students to show "Hawk Pride!" We talk about it daily in school, at parent meetings and even in the monthly newsletters. But what exactly is "Hawk Pride" and why do we spend so much time on it!
When we talk about "Hawk Pride" we are helping our students learn how to be Respectful, Responsible and Real Safe in all areas of the school building. While many adults believe that students should "just know" how to do these things, we understand that for children to understand the expectations we need to "show" them what to do and "how" to do it.
There are over 540 students at Glenbrook which makes coming in and out of the school a challenge. With the "Arrival and Dismissal" training, things go much more smoothly. |
With some open classrooms, Glenbrook students have to work very hard learning to line up and walk silently in the hallway. |
We are always "Quick, Quiet and Clean" in the bathroom. It keeps us safe and healthy. |
The playground is fun, but without lots of training, students can easily get hurt. Our Supervised Physical Activity (SPA) training day ensures that the students know the rules and are safe too!
|
In the classroom we are always learning and having fun.
Students learn the importance of cooperation, organization and hard
work with our "in the classroom" training.
|
Lunch is always fun and a great time to relax. It can be messy though to feed over 500 students. Students learn the importance of good manners and safety in the lunchroom during our training.
|
We first practice on a "pretend bus" before
our regular bus safety drill takes place, then the
real practice begins!
|
Our "Hawk Pride Pledge" reminds students that we always are Respectful, Responsible and Real Safe where ever we go. On Friday night our students did an excellent job showing "Hawk Pride" as the participated in the "Light Up Streamwood" luminaria event. We had a great time!!!
As a Glenbrook Student I pledge to be
Respectful, Responsible and Real Safe
I will do my best at all times
Where ever I go to show
Hawk Pride.
