Week 9 Last Day of School

This week we only had one day of school, but it was a fun one!  The day was spend with celebratory zoom sessions with each grade level.  I shared out 3 videos, that I've linked below, please enjoy them with your family. Week 8 Distant Learning

This was our final week of Distant Learning and of the 2019-2020 School Year. It certainly was an interesting one!  Next Tuesday, May 26 will be our final day of school and a day to celebrate accomplishments.  This week, we had some fun with Spirit Week Activities. Each day a name was drawn to celebrate those who participated. The winners won a $10 Target E-Gift Card.  Congratulations!

Not only did these students participate in spirit wear, but they also joined in on the "virtual field day" celebration. Several teachers encouraged students to take pictures of their "at home" field day experiences and they all look like they had a blast

    

Week 7 Distant Learning

The students must have been very busy this week because they didn't send me too many pictures of their learning.  I was able to find some excellent work though. I'm so proud of them for continuing to engage right up to the last weeks of school. Yes, next week is our last full week of school. We will wind up our first distance learning instructional quarter of school.  It sure was strange, but I really believe that we did the best each of us knew how. We all visited each other's personal lives, homes, shared our families, siblings, and pets and we've continued to learn math and reading too.  

Students continue to work independently on their work each day, however, they are also participating daily in either synchronous (Live video sessions) or asynchronous (recorded video sessions) with their teachers and classmates.  These sessions have not only helped students with an understanding of concepts, but they have also helped to reconnect them to their teachers and classmates socially. 

As someone who appreciates art, but is not quite an artist herself, I am totally amazed by the talent that I see from our Glenbrook artists.  This dinosaur shading popped into my inbox yesterday.  I could not figure out who the artist was, but it's incredible. (Please come forward so I can give you credit!)  To see more fabulous art, please visit our annual art show. Ms. Scarpino sent me these pictures and writing pieces. It's amazing how far our kindergarteners have come. They really are ready for 1st grade and I know the 1st-grade teachers are ready for them.  Great job "almost first graders!"
