Weekend Fun!

Even though our week was filled with monsoon-like weather, the weekends were filled with fun and excitement!  Last Sunday, April 28th was our Family Bowling Event at Streamwood Lanes. It was a fun event and a great way for families to get together on a rainy day. A special thanks to Cari Adams, a former Glenbrook parent, who organized the event. It was so great to have you and Nathan back with us!

Tri-Village Community Church Carefest

Glenbrook is so very fortunate to have Tri-Village Community Church partner with us each and every year. They come out the first week in May to clean up and freshen up our yard.  This year they added a special touch by painting some sensory/play pathways on our blacktop areas.  I can't wait for Monday when the students arrive to see the hard work this outstanding group of volunteers did.  Tri-Village Community Church is located in the Awanas' building on the corner of Bode and Bartlett Road in Streamwood.

Sixth Graders Shine!

This week some of our sixth graders began to show off their hard work and leadership skills at 2 events. Check out the photos and information on Those Who Excel and our sixth grade led Family Reading Night.

Those Who Excel
On Tuesday evening 4 all around fabulous students were presented with the Those Who Excel  (TWE) award given to 6th, 8th and 12th graders across the district.  This award honors students who stand out among their peers both socially and with their academic integrity. A big thank you to the Elgin Teachers Association for recognizing students for their hard work. We are so very proud of this year's winners from Glenbrook.  Congratulations to:

Hope Agosto  - Mrs. Diaz-Blanco
Jerry (J.J.) Frazer - Mrs. Bury
Aaditya (Aadi) Sanghavi - Mrs. Jagielski
Colin Ward - Mrs. Chandler

Pietro Stabile - Tefft Middle School

Anderson Book Fair and Family Reading Night
The annual Anderson Spring Book Fair was a huge success. The buy one. get one event is always popular among teachers, students and parents. Thank you to the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and to all of the parent/grandparent volunteers.  We could not have held the fair without you!

Also in a newer tradition, our 6th-grade students are running the Family Reading Night.  We are all very impressed with the quality of the work that these students have put forth.  Students choose books to read and create a game or craft to go along with it. The other students come, enjoy the event and bring their parents along to shop the fair. Thank you to all of the 6th-grade students who organized, plan and created a great time for all!

Pastries for Parents

On Wednesday our 4th - 6th graders enjoyed some donuts, coffee, and juice with their parents and grandparents. As always, it was great to visit and chat for just a little while before our day began.  (And, the donuts were delicious!)

March Madness

As basketball's March Madness ends, so did our library's March Madness.  Each year, Mrs. McDonald organizes a March Madness to narrow down the number 1 book choices.  It's a fun way for the students to get involved each week, paying attention to authors and literature. This year's winning books were:

Not Quite Narwhal by Jessie Sima (Primary)
Lightning Thief, The (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 1) by Rick Riordan (Intermediate)
