Students' Protest in Writing

I'm so proud of the 6th graders in Mrs. Jagielski's class for their thoughtful protests as they share their opinions about why books should not be banned.  There are several amazing pieces of literature that some folks have determined are innappropriate for libraries across the United States and therefore should be banned at one time or another. Books such as The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, James and the Giant Peach and  Harry Potter. Our students have thoughfully written essays about why they feel these books should not be banned.  A special thanks to Aarav Patel  and Aima Okhuoya for sharing their essays with our PTA.

Halloween Bash

Once again our Halloween Bash was a roaring success!  Thank you to Christine Bernaden for her organization of the event. A special thanks to Jose Alcantara who donated his time and equipment as the official D.J. for the event. Also thanks to all of our volunteers and the PTA for their support with the Bash. As with any of our events, we couldn't do it without you!

Pastries for Parents

Who doesn't love donuts!  Well about 250 guests joined us. Kindergarten through 3rd grade students came to breakfast this past Wednesday with their parents, grandparents, or other parental figure to enjoy the delicious treats and company.  I think the purple sprinkled ones were the favorite of them all! Thanks to all of the volunteers and organizers, especially Michelle Esmenda who coordinated the event and our PTA who paid for the donuts and juice.  Also thanks to Luis Uribe for setting up and taking down all of the tables.  It was great to see so many people so early in the morning!

Anderson Book Fair and Family Reading Night

Who doesn't love to shop for new books?  The bi-annual Anderson Book Fair was a huge success!  The students and their parents enjoyed browsing and shopping the book fair this week and spent maybe a little more than they planned to. We also had a nice turn out for Family Reading Night.  Our students and their parents enjoyed some crafts that went along with the theme of a book or a book series.  Thanks to Nicole Martiez, Jill Piwko, Stephanie LeMaire, John LeMaire, and the many other parent volunteers who spent the entire week at Glenbrook making sure the event was a success.  We truly appreciate your support!
