So Much To Celebrate!

There has been so much to celebrate during this week before our spring break.  Our Young Authors enjoyed a celebration of reading, all of our state finalists were honored for their hard work, Moms and Sons enjoyed a day of bowling and we had dinner out to kick off our spring break.  Wow, what a week!

Sunday 3/18

Our annual Mother/Son Bowling event was held at Streamwood Lanes on Sunday.  It was a great turnout and fun time for all.  I'm sorry that I couldn't attend, but I thank those who sent pictures.

Monday, March 19 was our Young Author's Celebration. Again, thanks for the pictures since I had a meeting and missed the event.  I'm so proud of the writers and illustrators for their awesome books. A special thanks to Mr. Whitmer for organizing the entire Young Author's program. Congratulations to Jonathon Woolverton, Jose Luis and Alex Reyes for their winning books. All 3 students will have the opportunity to attend the Illinois Young Authors' Conference at Illinois State University in May.

State Competition!

Anyone who follows competitions knows how difficult it is to qualify for a state competition. Well, I am so proud to announce that 18 Glenbrook students have recently done just that!  On Wednesday, March 21st, we held a celebration to honor them for their hard work and dedication!

Future Problems Solving Bowl (FPSB)

This year Mrs. Smith coached 4 teams in the FPSB competition and all 4 teams are heading to the state bow in April. The task of the students is to solve a global problem that stems beyond the 21st century.  These students put in lots of extra hours after school and at home to plan and research. Congratulations to them all, we can't wait to see what you do at the state bowl! Thank you Mrs. Smith for your hard work in coaching these teams!

4th grade team: Bryan Sanchez, Samantha Havener, Jasmine Olumegbon, and Neda Bazys.

5th grade team: Carlos Perez, Brandon Cardozo, Aarav Patel, Sara Sulemanjee

6th grade team:  Sarayu Manne, Saranya Ganne, Gurshaan (Shanu) Singh and Arav Patel

7th grade team (Former Glenbrook Students, now Larson Middle School Students):  Danyl Sulemanjee, Arjun Sivasankaran, Kush Pate, and  Mann Sheth.

Regional Spelling Bee:  Aaditya Sanghavi (Aadi) came in 2nd place at the State Spelling Bee.

State Chess Championship:  Brandon Cardozo won 10th place out of 205 participants in his age group.

Dining Out Night
To celebrate the beginning of spring break, a much needed break for our kiddos, Glenbrook families enjoyed a night of dining at CiCi's Beyond Pizza in Streamwood. CiCi's and their team were gracious hosts!  Thanks CiCi's for your partnership and delicious food!

Fun, Fun and More Fun!

The students have worked very hard this week, especially with all of the PARCC testing they have done.  It was a great week to make sure we got in some fun and entertainment. Our 1,2, and 6th graders were a great source of entertainment for us at their Spring Sing on Wednesday evening. thanks to Mr. Magdelin for doing such a great job with our students. Thanks also to everyone who came out to enjoy the performance.

The annual Family Fun Fair was held on Friday evening, and as usual it was a huge success!  The students and their families enjoyed games, prizes, raffle baskets and some tasty treats.  Thanks to Dawn Heath who head up the fun fair and to all of those committee people who were in charge of putting all of the pieces together. A special thanks to all of our volunteers from parents, to high school students, to teachers, and to our amazing 6th grade leaders. We couldn't have done it without you!!!
